Every time I show a photo of my kitchen on instagram or here I am asked where the mint green cake stand for fruit and vegetables comes from! The good news: it is of course homemade! The better news: I photographed the instructions two years ago, but never showed them here – what I’m finally catching up on today.
The cake stand is really super easy to make and I’ve been using it for fruit and vegetables for two years! I love it when things that are so practical are so easy to build 🙂.
- two wooden boxes, I used this one (no paid advertising, just a recommendation)
- four wooden strips á 40 cm, approx. 2 cm wide
- Chalk paint in mint green or matt lacquer
- paint brush
- Letter template (or a nicer font than mine 😉)
- Cordless drills and screwdrivers
- matching screws
- white paint pen
How to do it:
Paint the wooden boxes and the strips in your desired color and let everything dry.
Then you label the boxes. I first sketched the letters with the template and then colored them in with a white paint pen, but if you have a nice font you can also write on the boxes freehand.
Mark the holes for the screws on the strips. To do this, place a bar on the upper edge of the upper box, leave about 12 cm space between the boxes and then mark two holes for the lower box. Then you transfer the markings to all four strips. You have to pre-drill the holes, otherwise the bar can tear!
Finally you screw the wooden strips to the boxes.
Have fun copying!
