At a blogger event last year, I only noticed in passing what the PINTOR markers from PILOT supposedly can do – and to be honest, I was initially skeptical! Pens that can be used to write on or paint ANY surface ?! Clear wood, glass and ceramics, but also fabric! That seemed very suspicious to me – until I started working with the pens myself. With the carpet, I chose a really difficult surface, because on the one hand it is very roughly structured and on the other hand it has soaked up the paint. Take a look for yourself how the result turned out!
I am super satisfied with the result and my daughter was really happy about the carpet for her room (if you only knew how much stuff I had to clear out of the picture in order to be able to photograph the carpet – just the normal madness in the nursery: )! The inspiration for the mandala pattern came from the book “Pimp up”, which was recently published by CV Verlag.
Six blogger colleagues wrote the book together, including Kati von katimakeit, Ioana alias miss red fox and dear Sarah, who I know from OZ-Verlag. They show a lot of different projects with the PINTOR markers, so that you can hardly decide afterwards what you want to start with 🙂. The mandala template in the book was used to design a cell phone case, but I immediately felt like painting it on the carpet.
- PINTOR marker with medium tip in pastel colors (pink, dark pink, mint green …)
- Natural-colored carpet (mine is available at the Toom hardware store)
- Wool scraps
- needle and thread
How to do it:
Design the carpet as desired with ornaments, patterns or a mandala. The colors cover so well that one line is completely sufficient (so you don’t have to repeat the pattern several times). To fix the color, iron the carpet over medium heat.
Make tassels from scraps of wool and sew them to the edge of the carpet. Finally, I sewed on a few matching pompoms. You could also glue them on with textile glue. But since I am sure to throw the carpet in the washing machine, the sewing is more durable.
With this project, my personal carpet tick is once again completely satisfied, I think it’s really super beautiful :).
I am curious how you find the result! Let’s see what else comes to mind with the markers, I need a few highlights for the balcony in spring …
